As many of you know, We, the founders of Boys With Boats lost everything when our vessel and home sank on September 17th, 2021. Josh and I have been living in a motel since that night, and have had to continue paying our dock rent. We have found another boat to call home, but need your help to make that a reality. I have secured a private loan, and funds to cover the negotiated purchase price of $45,000, but am unable to cover the additional costs:
Sales Tax: $2,800.00
Survey (Inspection): $1,500
Yard fee for one month to make vessel ready: $900
Antifouling Paint: $1,200
Oil, Filters, Impellers, Batteries to bring boat to South Florida: $950
Our dear friend Alan Kurland had setup a gofundme that raised $42,000 when Ocean Cowboy sank, and it cost $23,000 to have her raised, preserved, and listed for sale. We were able to apply $15,000 towards the purchase of this new vessel, along with a private loan for $30,000. The loan agreement (since it is from a source that doesn’t write loans) has a balloon payment for whatever amount our old boat sells for, so those funds cannot be used for the items listed above.
The finish line is in sight, and while this next boat is older, and needs work, it will satisfy our housing needs, get our family out of a motel, and have us back in the business of LGBT boater inclusion. I’m begging for you to give however much you can in $5.00 increments. If you’re willing to sponsor the cost of one of the above tasks, I’d be eternally grateful and love to talk more with you, promote your business, or minimally acknowledge you in a public manner.
